Description of Product

The worlds first digital photo frame with a motion detection sensor has arrived! The X10A has now also been selected for the Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry "Smart Green Home" Exhibition for 2010. The Motion Detection Sensor delivers two distinct benefits. First it saves energy by only powering on and off when it senses you're nearby. Secondly it provides the highest order of convenience by switching the frame on and off without you having to so much as touch a button! The Motion Detection Sensor is set up to a range of 2.5 metres to avoid movement from far away activating the frame, such as a person just passing by a room. The timer on the sensor can be set from a series of intervals from 1 minute to 24hrs before it switches off after sensing no movement, or the Motion Detection Sensor can be switched off completely and you can use the fully functioning remote control or buttons on the back of the frame. Also with the motion detection system feature activated, once you've loaded your photos onto your frame, you'll never even need to so much as touch your frame to use it! The frame can display your photos in a progressed shuffled order to mix it up a bit or in sequence. You also have the option to display up to four photos at once in Split Screen Mode. The Hi Resolution screen provides a lush large image for your photos, making the most of large mega-pixel images. Additional features include a large internal memory. Video and music direct from your computer to your frame via a USB cable (included).

loving the Motion Sensor

Review Date: August 2, 2009
Reviewer: Ms. Ji Keep,
I bought a nix 8 inch frame the other day then noticed this new frame. I quickly returned the 8 inch frame and bought this instead. The motion sensor adds an interesting dimension. at first i was more interested in just the energy saving aspect of the motion sensor. i figure it cuts down the amount of time the frame is switched on when I'm out of my office by about half the time. The unexpected thing i liked the most is that after having loaded up some photos, i don't ever have to touch the frame. it just switches on when i go near it (or what looks really cool when people are around is I just wave my hand over the sensor and it switches on).

The screen resolution is amazing and the images are clear, bright and crisp. The screen is also large enough to enjoy from a distance and also the large screen makes the split screen option doable. I always expected that on a smaller screen the splitscreen function just wouldn't work cause the individual images would be too small. With the large 10 inch frame it works though. The screen is widescreen which is good for watching .avi movies or home videos, and when displaying photos it manages to get the photo to fit the screen and looks great.

So in summary - the flat panel front screen looks good, the motion sensor makes it so easy you don't even have to touch it except to load new photos and the image quality is very high and the definition is high. Big 1GB memory, the auto-rotate sensor is a very handy feature too. And the remote control is a good feature to throw in. and last but not least this has the random display option when running through a slideshow

Additional comments - after having briefly seen the 8 inch frame it should be noted that this frame doesn't have the fancy touch controls (I suppose maybe they didn't think it was necessary with the motion sensor). Also unlike the other nix frames this doesn't have a battery (I guess maybe this is too big for a battery). The design styling isn't quite as nice as the 8 inch frame, especially the back of the frame, but once you've placed the frame in a nice position it looks like a nice slick flat panel screen.
don't even have to touch the frame to turn it on!

I reckon i save around 60% of the electricity on this cause of the motion sensor. just trying to do my bit. I've got enough stuff around the house that needs constant turning off and on to keep the electricity use to a minimum. not having to bother with switching this on and off makes it worth it.

nice big screen with a really clear image, big memory, straight forward black border frame, the slideshow operates in sequence or in shuffle order. it displays my photos when I'm around and doesn't when i'm not.
Pleasantly surprised

Pleasantly surprised by this frame. I once purchased a 7 inch nix frame for my aunt and we were both impressed by it's quality and features. So when I decided to buy one for myself wanted something larger and looked at this frame. The features looked impressive and I especially liked the motion sensor concept. Though there were some mixed reviews I decided to take a leap and bought this knowing I could return it if I wanted.

I'm pleased to say that it all works advertised and is still going strong. Basic list of what's good and what's not:

Good things:

1. Big bright screen. So clear in fact you can't see any pixels and the image is bright and glossy.
2. Nice size internal memory
3. simple to use remote control, that allows just one touch to play either photo's video or music
4. the random display seems to work fine
5. last, but not least the motion sensor really is a neat trick. Once set up I no longer need to even switch it on as advertised. It just senses when I come home from work and the photos just pop up! Also it saves energy only being on when I'm about.

Not so good things:

1. I wish the frame had the same design styling as the 7 inch and 8 inch models with the touch controls. I did email nix to ask if they made a 10 inch version of the TS07E, but they said that one won't be out for until Christmas 2010.
2. internal memory not as big as the 7 inch model
Couldn't be more simple

Just couldn't be more simple to use. After I'd switched the motion sensor on in the setup menu and inserted my memory card, that was it - I've not touched my frame since! I just walk in the room and the frame comes on. I leave the room and it switches off. Other features are easy to use, and the frame is a straight forward design, i.e. flat front, black border, not much to say really.
